Has he lost his mind? I'm guessing someone reached out to him and told him he was horrible as a TV correspondent? Or is this because of his divorce settlement?

His best days are behind him. If by chance he does play again, for whatever team is willing to take a chance with him, it will mostly be as a back up, or the worst case scenario, riding the bench. Do yourself a favor, forget the idea. Your past your sell date.
