It's probably the same phenomenon whereby home teams have a distinct advantage regardless of sport because officials are reluctant to make calls especially in close situations that would result in their being booed. The officials see the teams Obama picks and those teams either subcognizantly or cognizantly receive special treatment from the officials refereeing those games since the referees don't wish to piss off the president.
